13th Labour Composition

13th Labour Although I know I have a lot to work on, I thought I'd focus on composition for a little while. Things like creating visual interest and leading the eye on while not significantly increasing the amount of time I have to spend on each comic. Could anyone take a look and give me a few hin...

13th Labour - 200 surreal comics!

13th Labour is about far too many characters in a family and a growing coven who have to deal with life under the stress of transformations, warfare, and The Grandma.

It's my first anniversary, and my 200th comic to boot! I'm looking for comments, ways to improve, and hopefully new readers.[/url]

Tell me about what using a tablet is like. Specifically, does it show what you've drawn? It seems like figuring out where you're going to put your stylus next would be difficult, especially for detail work.

100th Strip!

After a brief hiatus, my one hundredth strip posts tomorrow. So exciting! Never thought I'd make it! I started out assuming I'd update once a week. And comparing my current art to how I began, less than four months ago, gives me a very ood feeling about my ability to do just about anything. :D

No, I didn't try that. I did try deleting an older file and reuploading along with the new files, which worked. So I don't know if it was a temporary problem or will happen again, and I wish there were another way of fixing it.

Thanks. Problem solved - for now.

mirage-mail, do you want to check your information on my new fanart page (!) to make sure that it's what you'd like it to say?

Ninety-eighth strip today. Two days to number one hundred!

You missed me in your listing, but that's understandable because I haven't done much with the character I offered (Vivian) and I placed a limit. But I'm almost there! She's going to be in her second strip tomorrow, although she doesn't have a line. (Oof. I just realized that I'm probably going to be...

Tags are what you use to tell a browser what you want to appear. The ***advertisement*** coding that you have to have on every page is a tag; so is <img src=image.jpg>. There are loads of HTML tutorials on the web. (Tutorial, I've found, is a very useful term when trying to find information in a sea...

Difficulty uploading to Images folder

I am having trouble uploading JPEGs to my images folder. I have tried both Leech and Philex, and I have successfully uploaded the same files to my workspace folder. Philex just goes on and renews the page without changing anything. Leech returns and error and logs off when I try to open the images f...

Of course you may link. :) I've already put a link to you up, and will be looking forward to future installations. I think my realism is flexible. Mostly it depends on the character. Uri, of course, is not very realistic at all. But if I compare Jordan to Kamali, facially: Jordan has a typical eye s...

I think Demowalker is lovely and vivid. I had a bit of trouble before I figured the last page out - somehow the arrows slipped past my consciousness. How do you decide how to use such a layout? Where to put what, angles, why to mix things up a little.

How does today's look? I think I went a little heavy on the shading. The buildings . . . could have been better, but it would have taken much more work to approach that, so I think I'm okay with them at this point in my abilities. And wrinkly clothing! And boxes! And funny, I think I hope. I had the...

Oh, yeah . . . Heh. Now I'll need to go through my characters and figure out how to draw everyone's eyes in profile. Some of them have realistic eyes and some have odd shapes. I have a friend in film school who was telling me exactly that about colors. I guess my mind didn't absorb it properly as ap...

My use of the word "vision" was perhaps inappropriate. I'm only just beginning to develop an artistic eye. I think it would be inaccurate to say that I have a very solid idea as to what it should look like - except that I like bright colors. And I don't like pink. And the text should be legible, and...

I appreciate all the feedback. I am a bit worried about swallowing it all whole, and coming out with something that looks assembly line driven. It seems difficult to discuss this without it sounding defensive every time I disagree with you. I am aware that you have had much more experience than me, ...

I have Photoshop 5 limited edition, which means that, while I CAN work with channels, it would be very time consuming. At the moment, I am updating daily, which is mainly a psychological trick on myself to make sure that I practise drawing daily. My art IS immature. I have been drawing daily for exa...

At first, I went back and forth between Photoshop and Paint, because Paint does a few things that take longer in Photoshop, and it's easier to format tet. Then I just stayed with Photoshop. I'm reluctant to change things early on when I could be working ahead, but I don't want people to glance at th...

Query: When you say it looks like it was edited in Paint, do you mean all of them, or the earlier ones? If all, I suppose my best guess is that you're referring to the line art quality. Or possibly the lossiness of JPEGs, which I don't think I can remedy without making the file size larger, and they...

13th Labour

I'd like to know what people think of "13th Labour" at http://the13labour.keenspace.com.

At the moment, it's kind of a family strip crossed with adventure. Surreal modern-day fantasy.
