My other thought is, Huon Fu seems pretty strong himself. He might not win in a fight, but I don't think he'd get his ass beat immediately either.

I doubt he's used to feeling scared or bargaining, but he seems smart enough to try that route if he can tell he needs to.

Hi again! I just want to say that I LOOOOVE the Journeys of Phenix series. I want to know what's going to happen. It's an adventure!

I would never have guessed that's how that battle ends!

(PS- I'll just pretend Phenix drank a nice, ice cold drink to cure the Hellfire Palm. Simplest solutions are often the best.)

I still love reading it, but if it feels empty and no fun to draw I'd feel bad for you to keep writing it.

I wish I had more paypal money!

Well I think your comics freakin' rule!

Those who can- make comics.
Those who can't- make sites whining about other peoples' comics!

Sword!

Doggone it! Phenix should have got in some free hits with her sword while the swording was good!

Houn Wai is probably pretty good even unarmed against a sword, but Phenix would still have had the advantage. Now who knows what will happen!

TWC: Wow! That was extremely fortunate for Phenix to get a disarming shot on Huon Wai! What will she down now? Try and fight Phenix unarmed versus a sword? Surrender this time? Even being disarmed like that must be fairly embarassing, considering all her other soldiers saw her. Will she recognize th...

Oh, OK. I think I understand. Phenix and Fung Yee's "home" is in the past, they got a free ride to the future through cartoon magic so to speak.

Random note- Huon Fu's sideburns remind me of Maxi from the Soul Calibur Series.

More Info

Hi Tang! I'm really glad Journeys of Phenix is going again, I like it a lot! I have a few really basic questions- So this Journeys is set far back in time... is this the same Phenix from the usual TWC or sort of a "re-imagining" of her back in the past? Maybe an ancestor? What I'm confused about is ...

And Now Tang Review

"taping" In this case the word is "tapping" "Taping" means "recording to tape", like "taping Survivor on my VCR". "Tapping" means tapping on the door there. All from one missing letter P! "we were scared out of our minds and ran out like there's a fire" You can contract "there is" to "there's", but ...

DB Review

Haha yeah, that was some dirty talk. Wai is a hot, dirty sensei. Grammar seemed VERY smooth this time. It was only on the second to the last panel that I realized I was partially struggling to understand what was going on: "Look what you've done! You've scared him lame! Come here and suck it back up...

Thanks. Of course I'd edit grammer mistakes, but I don't think I'm ultra elite, just a guy who wants to suck less. I just meant that making "staying...keeping...having" all agree in tense, even though they were in different word bubbles, is such an obscure point that only a grammar teacher or snoot...

Long time no see

Hey Tang, it's been a while since I commented, but I've still been reading. Just not commenting. TAV- Hehe, since sensei-student relationships aren't really a part of the society I live in, I can't feel the weight of the horrible taboo you are crossing in this comic. So it just comes across as hot. ...

Options

Tactical Analysis- Sakura is bound by her wrists and ankles at a presumably secure location chosen by her assailant. Her mouth is gagged by duct tape. However she still has motion on several planes. She can likely swing her elbows from side to side a little bit. Most importantly, it appears that her...

Culture Shock

TAV: I should just say that as I understand culture (here in the US), these gestures have NO meaning out of the ordinary. I had to scan it over many times to start reverse engineering. "Okay, in the first one, Miki is handing something to Tatsuya, in the second one she's handing something to Tatsuya...

Back Again

TWC- I'm almost positive on the punchline, the term you want is "slow poke ". My only guess on where that comes from is old west slang, cowboys were sometimes called cow pokes (possibly because you have to poke cows in the right direction to herd them?), and sometimes cowpokes were known to "mosey a...

Super!

Grammar, spelling, everything seems just fine in both comics! A+! I had lots of fun going back and reading the earliest Tang comics, there were quite a few I didn't remember. I thought I had read the origins of Phenix stories but I guess I hadn't. Your comics had a crazy, funny energy to them way ba...

Last Week's Tav

I said I would try not to say anymore about that one phrase last week. I find I must break that promise. " Where have you been last night?" is even weirder than the original. ; -) Here are the three better possibilities I can think of. All that's been happening is that they have been combinging thes...
