Yes there is a certain black featheryness. i remember neither Hugin or Munin having three blue eyes though.

Also that's quite a beak even for a carrion eater, maybe a raptor?. :)

Another thing thats limiting the development of space elevators would be the strength of the cable needed, theres a trade off between strength and weight. Currently for our world, materials are not strong enough to take such forces, but research is being done on carbon nanotubes and other composite...

Skyhooks

i have tried but i don't understand why space elevators would have to be *over* the equator. Isn't it just as easy to 'hang' the top anywhere else? Could someone explain please? They are such a good idea, i really don't see why we don't put a lot more money into devloping the technology needed. The ...

I seem to remember annealing metal can be to do with hammering or rolling, not good with silicon slices or minds, methinks... chi No, now that Allen described silicon annealing, I remember how it works with steel. The iron/carbon mixture can have a lot of phases depending on weight-percent carbon a...

If i can just make one last comment here; thank goodness so much of this material stays in our heads.

The resultant flood of artistic output would overwhelm us all. Never mind what would happen to the internet and it's file sharing sites. %)

I'm not a visual artist but a musician. I make most of my music by improvisation, often worked a bit from that. I am in worse condition than a plot ridden dork. I have so many of my musical ideas crammed in my head I should wear a hat maybe one that says 'musical dork'?. Will i ever achieve the Ivor...

For some reason it reminds me of an ancient Ed Barker (hip underground cartoonist in the UK- 60's-70's) 'Largactilites' cartoon. The patient does a little song and dance then sits down and goes (as so many of his little largactilites did) 'meep'. Doctor (developing Napoleon hat): a hopeless case, eh...

I like this style a lot and I certainly agree about the text. I didn't realise it was a bag myself- Being UH2 I assumed it was mad scientist experimental in a cheese wizz and time portal style- hehe.

er...YUK! I have tried the famous 'coffee bags', didn't know they still made THOSE. I figured they were buried under a snow of instant 'cappucino'. The thing I remember about the bags was you could never steep them long enough for the REAL coffee to make a difference to the taste. Mostly they have i...
