How is it that all these people, who I haven't seen post here in literally a whole year, suddenly realize that this kind of topic exists and decide to post? PSYCHIC INTERNET POWERS. Starline Vanity 'bots. Somebody mentions Schlock Mercenary, I hear about it from my Vanity Bot (provided I've fed it ...

Rpin sums it up pretty nicely. There were internal-only discussions also, mostly centered around "Chris, can you please shut Bobby up," and within a month or so Chris and Teri had bought him out. But as near as I can tell, Bobby was just annoying. The reason most of these strips left (again, as far ...

A quick tally of page views from the aritsts on IRC got about 10k a day combined. ~75% of this was served up by three comparatively large comics. Combined, that's less than 5% of Schlock Mercenary's daily page views. At what point do you think it's possible for a group of small time artists to pull...

awesome site stat tutorial Nice! That really helps! For some reason, though, my site seems to have twice as many IPs logged every day than there are visits. That happens from time to time. I suspect it means you're being deep-linked much more than you're being read. Check your referrers list toward...

I still have trouble figuring out if hits matter at all, since people put more emphasis on pageviews and visits. Quick tutorial: 1) "Hits" don't matter. They're more a measure of how often your webserver has to respond to requests than a meaningful measure of readership. 2) Unique IPs matter lots. ...

I took the figure for monthly pageviews from the Pages column on the webalizer stats provided by Keen, is that the correct place to look? The column that says "Pages" under "Monthly Totals" That's exactly where to look. If you're doing 800,000 pageviews per month, you will likely make between $100 ...

In my experience, the selection scheme for new Spot comics is murky and unintelligible to the average layman. It appears to be whether or not they like you. It's SUPPOSED to be murky. They pick comics based (at least in part) on what they think will best compliment their existing stable of cartooni...

The Feature Button is an image we'll use in rotation so that the page has some examples of participating 'toonists art on it. 100x100 pixels is the space you have to play with. In order to upload it, you'll need to log in and then click on "Comics Settings." You'll see your current settings. Now cli...

Quick update -- we're still seeing DNS failures all over the place. It SHOULD have cleared up already, but it's possible that one or more major DNS hosts have not refreshed, and thus the change is not propagating. We're working with our ISP on it right now, just to make sure that the problem is not ...

*peeks in* Erm, I have a question. Does the WCA comic entry have to be cannon? Like, instead of making it at "...enspace.com/20040505.html", can it just be somewhere off to the side, like "...enspace.com/wca.html"? You mean "canon," right? Because with THREE n's you're shooting something. Anyway, n...

Sounds cool to me. By the way since he only has two posts should he be put in the box? Just wondering. Go count my posts on the Keenspot forums before you think about putting me in your "box." The only reason my post count HERE is so low is that I haven't used it since the crash. Which, as I recall...
