Where would you pass out fliers? I live in a rather uncultured area.... no book stores.... whatsoever. There are some comic book stores at surrounding malls..... but its the mall, and thats the epitome of evil. Anyways, I'd hand out fliers.... I happened to 'stumble' across a Kinkos employee card so...
Along time ago I ripped my dimensions off of a Zits comic, and then multiplied it as far as the paper width could go. Then I reduced it because it didnt fit in my scanner, so my cartoons go about twice the size that they're finished in. Of course, I draw all my cartoons in the same notebooks, and al...
Tell me where you're gonna hold it! I live in Waukegan, which is like right in the middle of Chicago and Wisconsin. Maybe I could show up or just do.... something.
o.O White-out is evil, espescially on cheap Xerox paper. Just fix it up on the computer, you can do so much more. And with white-out, you can't exactly draw over it because it looks so much like crap.
I can't stand regular printer paper now that I use the more expensive stuff... its fine for simple sketches, but after awhile you start to see why you need the better stuff. Its definitely softer when you pencil it in, but that makes an easier surface to draw on; more lines and less scratching of th...
That's not what I was talking about, but its still a good idea.... I think Keenime does it (those lousy....) I was just saying that we could put a Turbocool banner in with the other large banners. As it stands, the only links to Turbocool are through the little tiny "Brought to you by..." and...
As long as you keep your style as that, people will be comparing you too Real Life. It's happened before *cough cough* Movie Comics *cough cough* I thought the jokes were hilarious, but sometimes incredibly lifeless. Yes, many of them are ripoffs of other cartoons, and some don't reeeeally have a de...
I like the placeholder background :D Just get rid of the whole promise to replace it..... make it something like "Look, I was feeling real tired, so I just threw this onto the background." It throws in more of a casual attitude torwards the generally serious story. Anyways, I might be repeating thin...
Here's some quick things I've heard / come up with to bring back the rad... Original sketches / cartoon giveaways Interviews w/ the cartoonists A guy named Jon who passes out flyers More advertisement; spiffier ads An actual Turbocool banner that goes in rotation w/ the rest of the comics Guest stri...

o.O That's incredibly..... incredible. However, I have to agree with pretty much everyone that it is pretty sloppy. I don't know what kind of monitor you're using, but it must shield the most simplest of mistakes. For example, its terribly obvious when you tried to clean up the image with a white pa...
I was all hyped up... and then.... it just.... stopped. Let's get some real content on the sites, and then set up something real big (like a mass-cartoon-giveaway). Then you could promote the #&%@ out of the site and hook all the people. And nobody really gets all too many hits from the large banner...
The first one needs thicker outlines and lighter backgrounds. The black skies get rid of what little ink you had around the people, and the colors seem to dig into the border. Sometimes its hard to read the text (muh....killroy?). Just make the bubbles bigger is all. I digged the couch on the second...
Why is it that Micron pens, which claim to be 'archival ink', screw up after such a short amount of time? God help me, I like to keep my pictures black...
I've got a picture by Stephan Pastis drawn in Micron, yet even in a frame, its become orange-black over the short year I've had it.
For the auto-updating thing, the only way I can see this happening is to give all the members the FTP password. Then we could assign everyone a letter, and put that letter at the end of the date ex 20010204a for Mr Bubbles and 20010204b for Life And Times of The negative to this, of course, would be...
I'm willing to do whatnot. Whatever. 'n I agree with moon.... there's not much on the Turbocool site sans that 'Fun' that really showcases anything. There's the links..... and the fun.... and the rest is all kind of uneventful. If we could just take random strips and put them on the front page (or a...
Never use shading in a newspaper cartoon. ever. Keep your backgrounds nice & simple. Newspapers tend to go for a 200 DPI.... anything else and the picture kind of gets fuzzy. Those people are too lazy to just open up Irfanview and do it themselves. Draw your own word bubbles. It gives it class & cha...
